One of the most useful everyday perks tucked into the Merlin Platinum Pass is easy to overlook: a free One-Shot Fastrack on every single theme park visit. Here’s exactly how it works. What you get. Platinum Passholders receive one free Fastrack ride, on one participating attraction, per visit — not per day of a multi-day trip, but genuinely every time you come through the gates. Visit five times across a season and you get five free skip-the-queue rides, one per visit.
How to use it. There’s no need to pre-book or queue at a kiosk. Simply head to the Fastrack entrance of your chosen ride, scan your valid Platinum Pass barcode, and ride. It works on any attraction currently offering One-Shot Fastrack access, which covers most of the park’s headline coasters.
The catch worth knowing. It’s genuinely one use, on one ride, per Platinum Passholder, per day — you can’t stack it or save it up across visits. And it’s subject to availability: during particularly busy periods, if a ride’s standby queue exceeds 90 minutes, One-Shot Fastrack may be pulled from that attraction entirely to keep the main queue moving fairly for everyone else.
The smart move. Since you only get one shot, it’s worth saving it for whichever ride has the longest queue on the day, rather than using it on the first coaster you reach. Check queue times on the app shortly after arriving, then deploy your free Fastrack where it’ll save you the most time.
It’s a small but genuinely valuable perk for regular visitors, and one of several reasons the Platinum tier tends to pay for itself quickly if you’re visiting more than a couple of times a year.
Check eligibility before relying on the perk
Pass benefits and redemption rules can change between seasons and between attractions. Before planning your visit around a One-Shot Fastrack, check the current Platinum Pass terms, any excluded dates, participating rides and the instructions displayed in your pass account. If the perk requires an advance reservation, app activation or a particular redemption method, follow the latest instructions rather than relying on an older description. A Fastrack entitlement does not necessarily mean that an attraction will be operating, or that access will be available at every moment of the day.
How to judge the value of your pass
Compare the total cost of the pass against the visits you realistically expect to make, your usual admission price and any extras you would otherwise buy. Keep track of excluded dates and whether companion tickets, parking or event admission are included. If you travel with other people, check each person's eligibility separately. You can review Merlin Annual Pass options and current conditions before deciding. This makes the benefit easier to value without assuming it will work identically on every visit.
